Meet Rogatien from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
By Mukangwa Aaron
My name is MUKANGWA MUHOYA ROGATIEN AARON. I was born on 26 June 1982 in the DRC province of Tanganika into a family of 12 children, among whom I am second born. I did my secondary school training at Interlacs Institute, where I received a BAC in Mathematics-Physics in 2004. I then attended Official University located in the province of South Kivu and received a Graduate Diploma in Public Health in 2008. I was blessed to attend two Bible Schools before studying at EFI (International School headquartered in France) where I obtained a Marriage Counselor Diploma. I also studied online at a Missionaries Without Borders School in Cameroon, earning a Diploma in Discipleship.
I was born into a Muslim family (Muslim father and Catholic mother). My father had four wives and my mother was his second. When I was 12 years old, my father abandoned Islam, received Jesus Christ as his Savior, and began serving God. Since then, he has decided to stay with just one wife. We started attending a Christian church, and in 1999 I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I was baptized that same year.
In 2014 I married my wife, Sylvie Bahizire Cikwanine, and we have three children: two boys and one girl. In 2015 I planted a church where I continue to serve as pastor. I love God and my passion is to make Disciples of Christ who become Disciplers for Christ. I thank God for connecting me with Bart Physioc from Disciplers Intetrnational, who took me through the Step-by-Step Process, and also for Flavien Muderhwa, from DRC, who mentored me to become a Ministry Associate with Disciplers International.
After completing the discipleship training, my heart was set on fire to train people right away, so I started discipleship training in our church. Within 10 months I had trained 16 people. In the first class I trained 10 people, four of whom decided to be baptized. In the second class I trained six more, one of whom decided to be baptized - Afoyo Jepthent. I am now training a third class with seven people participating.
Afoyo Jepthent was the first born to a Catholic family. He is married with one child and works as a businessman in clothing sales. Afoyo came to know Jesus personally after hearing me bring a message of salvation at a hospital where I was preaching. It was at that time that Afoyo decided to receive Jesus as his Savior and Lord. I invited him to begin the Step-by-Step Process and after three weeks of training Afoyo was baptized. This is just one “Good News” story of many!
Discipleship begins with Evangelism and follows with Discipleship. This is what Jesus did and we are simply following His example in the DRC and beyond…
