Meet Patrick & Perecy from Kenya
By Patrick Amtallan
My name is Patrick Amtallan and my wife’s name is Perecy. Together we have four children - two are biological and two are adopted.
I am the third born of 12 siblings from a Muslim background. My family kept the Muslim faith, but I eventually converted to Christianity for three reasons. First, I noticed the love that Christians displayed to all people including non-Christians; second, I was impressed by their treatment of women as equals; and third, I experienced the power of God in answered prayers and healing.
Before my conversion I was disappointed by the fact that the Islamic faith was not able to change society for the better and that it focused on God’s discipline over His love. However, since my transformation through Jesus Christ, I’ve experienced divine peace. Now joy, harmony, love, and care for others fill my heart. It’s like a fire that burns inside me producing a passion to share God's love with other people. As I plant churches to accomplish the Great Commission of Jesus from Matthew 28:19, I find myself growing in the grace and knowledge of God.
Since completing the Step-by-Step Training offered by Disciplers International I have become involved in taking others through the same training I received and discipleship has become central to my ministry. I am also very busy with preaching, teaching and other pastoral responsibilities; and my hope is to soon be actively engaged in missionary work.
My goals are simply to spread God’s love to my neighbors, to help people in need, to show empathy, to promote peace, and to forgive others just as I have been forgiven. With those goals come this expectation: God has called me to make disciples by helping believers deepen their faith in Christ and grow in their understanding of Christian beliefs and values. In the process, I will do my best to give direction and support, while providing resources that nurture spiritual growth and lead to a life centered on walking with Jesus.
