Meet our new Mission Liaison

by Gary Munson

Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ! My name is Gary Munson, whom you might know through HAUS Church. I’m the husband of Heidi Munson and father to Havalah and Gabriel. I met Bart & Dawn Physioc while serving in the Army as a Chaplain Assistant in Heidelberg, Germany. We worked together with single soldiers mostly, doing out-of-the-box type of ministries for soldiers and anyone interested in knowing God and Jesus.

After returning to Minnesota, I attended Bethel Seminary in hopes of returning to Active Duty as a Chaplain. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and since resigning from the Army in 2010, I’ve worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs and two churches; one in Lynnwood, WA and the other in Portland, OR. I recently resigned for the second time at the VA and started volunteering at my church in Roseville, Minnesota, playing guitar in the worship band, helping with men’s ministries, and eventually helping with our missionaries in multiple countries.

During this time Bart and those volunteering at Disciplers International (DI) reached out for help with what is called a Mission Liaison. The DI Mission Liaison will establish relationships with the indigenous missionaries, who are supported by DI. We are still working on the details and job description, but I’ve been able to meet with Bart, Patrick in Malawai, and also Flavien in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). I have to confess that I don’t know much about Malawi or DRC or the continent of Africa, but I’m excited to learn about a new area of the world where God is working and to meet other brothers and sisters in Christ there.

I'd love to be overseas doing small group Bible Studies, learning a new culture, learning a new language, and seeing places I haven't seen before, but God has called me to serve Him in Roseville, Minnesota. Helping DI as the Mission Liaison will be a wonderful experience for me to be involved with overseas missions.
