Adventures in Europe
By Bart Physioc
Dawn and I returned home yesterday from our five-week adventure in Europe, and we thank all who prayed for us while we were away. A most special highlight was spending five days last week with our daughter and her family now living in Stuttgart, Germany. We were so glad to be there for our granddaughter’s 12th birthday, and then for mine just a few days later. All seven of us went for walks together, enjoyed meals together, laughed together, played games together and more… It was all about being together! We already look forward to our next visit, hopefully in the Spring.
After leaving Stuttgart, Dawn and I capped off our trip with several days on the beautiful Mosel River, which is one of our favorite go-to places in Germany. We stayed in Zell, which is a quintessential wine village known worldwide for its excellent Riesling. Just imagine a slow-moving river winding like a corkscrew with steep hills on both sides full of vines in all their glory at the very tail end of the harvest season. Now color that scene with the spectrum of Fall foliage. Yes, it’s that lovely, but there’s more! The Mosel is a long river with pretty German villages every few kilometers, and a bicycle path on both sides running the full length. Since Dawn and I were in that region for just a few days, we focused our attention in the section between Zell and Cochem, which gave us plenty to do and more than enough to enjoy.
