Biography of Bart Physioc, Founder and Director of Disciplers International

Bart and Dawn Physioc

Bart Physioc was raised as a Catholic in a suburb of Kansas City. He majored in forestry for two years at Kansas State University, but graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in geology. Following graduation in 1976, Bart entered the U.S. Coast Guard and was commissioned late that year after completing Officer Candidate School.

While on the way to his first duty assignment in Guam, Bart became aware that, in spite of his experiences and achievements, he lacked meaning and purpose in life. Upon arriving in Guam, he was befriended by a fellow officer who happened to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Within several weeks, after attending church with his friend and reading through the New Testament, Bart was compelled to give his life to Christ, trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord on April 25, 1977. On January 6th of the following year he married Dawn, a dear friend and wonderful Christian woman.

After leaving active duty in December 1979, Bart Physioc served for two years as a youth pastor at a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Whidbey Island, Washington. Following God’s call to vocational ministry, Bart attended Golden Gate Baptist Seminary in Mill Valley, California, receiving a Master’s of Religious Education degree in 1983. After graduation, he served for three years as Baptist Student ministry director at the University of Idaho before returning to Golden Gate Seminary in 1986. During the next two years, while attending seminary, Bart planted a local church in the San Francisco Bay area. He graduated with a Master’s of Divinity degree and Doctor of Ministry degree in 1988. The next year, while continuing to serve as pastor, Bart worked as a mission strategist for the California Baptist Convention and as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate Seminary.

In 1989 Bart entered the U.S. Army as a chaplain. Since then he has served as Battalion Chaplain with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, as Base Support Chaplain in Darmstadt, Germany, as Hospital and Brigade Chaplain at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, as Brigade Chaplain at Fort Sam Houston, TX, as Hospital Chaplain in Heidelberg, Germany, as Installation Chaplain at Fort Belvoir, VA, and currently as Brigade Chaplain at Fort Jackson, SC. Bart is blessed with a godly wife, a son (Luke), daughter (Carly), son-in-law (Will) and two grandsons (Simon & Oliver).
